Sh. Deepak Gupta, Director (Projects) & Sh. A K Tripathi, ED(Projects) along with other GAIL officials received the award in the category “Achievement Award for Best Construction Projects” wherein Barauni – Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline Project (A part of PM Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline project) was recognised. This Pipeline connects the north-eastern states of the country with the National Gas Grid. The 718 Km pipeline connects various customers such as IOCL refineries at Guwahati & Bongaigaon, 9 GAs (City Gas Distribution) across the states of Bihar, West Bengal and Assam.
Notably, this pipeline includes a 3.6 km HDD crossing of the Brahmaputra River, the longest at that time, and 4 river major crossings using the micro-tunnelling technique for the first time by GAIL (India) Limited.
